Ever since 2020, the pandemic has been responsible for a lot of plans being cancelled and some major events being postponed. Yet, for a few months, most countries have gone easy on the lockdown restrictions owing to the decrease in cases. Recently, it was revealed that the world is in danger of another Corona Virus variant, Omicron, and this is again putting restrictions on people’s lives. It seems like an endless loop now. One such event that is affected by the Omicron is the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
Why are the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games cancelled?
The Asian Games are cancelled because they were supposed to be held in Hangzhou, China. However, there has recently been a significant increase in cases in China, necessitating the establishment of containment zones in a number of important cities. They have a "Zero Corona Virus" policy, and they are taking it extremely seriously. They do not want to contaminate any cities and are thinking of putting them into a containment zone. They also do not want others to come to their country during this time, as they are working hard to stop the virus from spreading.
Though this is something that is quite disheartening, the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games was supposed to hold some of the most popular Esports tournaments in League of Legends, halo, etc. All these will be postponed too.
When are the games postponed to?
Another big question is when will the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games be postponed to? Well, they have been postponed indefinitely, and we are not sure yet when they will be able to start again. This is not only disheartening, but it is actually going to create a lot of problems among the Esports players who have tons of tournaments lined up for the rest of the year. The Asian Games were supposed to be in September, and now we are not sure when they are going to start.
What does this imply for Esports players?
Well, all of this for the Esports players means that they will have to compromise a lot in their free time, and they have a cramped up schedule. Gamers require proper rest and break time before they can prepare for the next tournament. Later this year, they will be having the League of Legends World Championship, and there is a high chance that it might collide with the Asian Games. This will pose a huge problem for the players, as they will not be able to unwind themselves properly. This would put a huge toll on their gameplay and stances. Hence, they will be left with only two options: either they can only participate in one tournament, or they can participate in both and give less priority to either of the games.
This is quite a problem for all the Esports players, as their schedules are always packed, and the Asian Games has to postpone the date to a time when the other athletes will be available too. Let us see what they come up with.
