Gaming and YouTube: Interview SnehilOPGaming

Interview May 10, 2022

“Gamers never quit, they simply restart.”

We are back with another episode of Tournatalks. In the eleventh episode of Tournatalks, we had an insightful discussion on BGMI, YouTube streaming, and much more with our special guest. We invite gamers, organizers, and much more eminent people from the gaming industry to spread awareness on various issues related to gaming, Esports and also to gain some valuable points from the professionals themselves.

In the eleventh episode of Tournatalks, we invited Mr. Snehil Saxena, a professional gamer, and a YouTuber with over 1.28L subscribers on YT. The session was hosted by Khushi from team Tournafest.

Let us take a look at some of the interesting questions from the session.

How has your journey been till now as a BGMI player?

“My journey has been absolutely wonderful till now. There have been ups and downs but it has always been worth it because of the love the audience has given me. There have been misunderstandings and everything that YouTubers face but the public has given me immense support and I am grateful for that,” reminisced Snehil.

How did you start as a YouTuber? Did you plan it beforehand?

“I never planned YouTube as such. I started it as a hobby in the beginning and I think that is how everyone should go with it. I basically got to it during the lockdown. When I found out that the response from the public is actually good and my family saw the potential and started supporting me, I started taking it seriously. And as you can see now, this is a part of my identity,” explained Snehil.

Talking about family support, how was it when you started v/s now?

‘Family wasn’t that supportive when I started of course because they also want that their children should pick a mainstream job so that they can have a secured future. Although, it is debatable whether a job can give you a secured future. In the beginning, when I just had 200 something subscribers, they found it a time waste but then I showed them and explained to them about the scope in this field and once I started growing, they supported me wholeheartedly,” Snehil recalled.

What do you think is the process or the way to convince parents about a possible career in this field?

“We have seen instances where a 12-13-year-old kid is asking his/her parents for an iPhone. But that is not the way to do it. You can learn so many skills these days from the internet and use them to generate an income. That is how you start. You can then convince your parents and tell them that you’re genuinely interested in gaming. You’ve to tell them about the advantages of it because they don’t know that and they just want you to have a secured career,” advised Snehil.

What motivates you to keep going as a YouTuber because there are numerous controversies every coming day?

‘I agree on that. There are controversies, there are issues and I cannot stand the wrongdoers so I often speak out which eventually generates controversy. But the most important part is that I’ve people to back me up. My family is always there to support me and so is my YouTube audience. They are my greatest source of motivation that always keeps me going,” told Snehil.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? In the gaming industry or somewhere else?

‘I do many things apart from gaming too but I’d say that my YouTube channel is my current focus now. The basic idea is to go ahead using social media. In 5 years, I want to earn at least 1M dollars. That is my short-term goal as of now but still, there are many things that I don’t want to reveal now,” Snehil said.

What one piece of advice would you give to the underdogs in the context of both gaming and YouTube?

“One thing that I’d say is that social media is a very powerful tool in both cases. If you’re playing a match, just upload it on your channel. I’ve seen people deleting channels out of frustration. Don’t do that. You don’t know which video of yours gets a boom in the views. Similarly for underdogs, keep playing. What if in a match where you kill a good team was being streamed or if you upload it, people realize how good a player you are,’ advised Snehil.

How do you think the Esports industry will shape in the coming few years in India?

‘Esports industry will definitely grow and reach new heights in the coming times. The ongoing games, BGMI, and all are already helping the market to expand in the country. In the coming times, many more games such as Valorant will come to India. Also, the craze for PC Gaming is also increasing and there’s a lot of scope in computer gaming. So, Esports will surely grow in India in coming times,’ Snehil explained.

These are some of the highlights from the live session. Mr. Snehil had a lot of information and advice to share with our gaming community. It was an incredibly fun-filled session and the response from the audience was overwhelming.
