Call of Duty Mobile has managed to get over 650 million downloads worldwide.
Activision said that Call of Duty Mobile had a “record year” and managed to gross revenue “well above” $1 billion USD.
The game recently saw the launch of its fourth season of content titled ‘Wild Dogs’.
It's time for celebrations for Activision and all the CODM fans as the game added another feather to its cap recently. It's 650 million+ downloads for the game worldwide, the highest number the title has seen since its release.
The number of active monthly users in the mobile title is almost equal to that of PC and console titles. Activision has credited the launch of the Chinese version of the mobile title for its exponential growth in 2021. This was one of the biggest contributing factors to the increase in overall downloads and monthly active users.
It can be seen as somewhat of a spiritual successor to Call of Duty: Online, due to a similar approach of a "mega-game", as the former had, along with taking several weapons and various other things from the former. Call of Duty: Mobile was announced in March 2019, with TiMi-J3, itself a TiMi Studio Group division, which is a subsidiary of Tencent Games, leading development. Many of the game's features were revealed at this announcement, promising a familiar experience for fans of the console games. This could be one of the reasons why CODM got the same amount of popularity as the PC version. Fans wanted a similar experience but in the mobile, the developers promisingly gave that to the audience and the results are fantastic, as we can see.
Some of the reasons that made CODM stand out:
- It represents the best the juggernaut franchise has ever been on a handheld platform. The leveling path is rewarding, even without spending money, and there are lots of modes to jump around between, including an impressive battle royale mode.
- Call of Duty: Mobile doesn’t come across like a deeply compromised or watered-down rendition of the age-old multiplayer format; it just feels like Call of Duty. Something that COD fans have always wanted.
- It's easy to move your character, shooting with the Advanced Mode control layout offers ample precision by firing and aiming-down-sights with one button, and being able to move the layout of every on-screen button allows you to find a setup that works perfectly for the way you want to play.
- CoD: Mobile is a culmination of various games from the series, meaning there's something for everyone to like.
Call of Duty Mobile is one of the most played games in India currently. It's a fan favorite and has been since its PC days. The achievement of 650 million+ downloads could be the way to something new in the game. Let's see what Activision has in store for us gamers in the coming times.
